Sir John Huxtable Elliott (Reading, Inglaterra, 6 de junio de 1930), que firma y es habitualmente citado como John Elliott o John H. Elliott, es un eminente historiador e hispanista británico, que ostenta los cargos de Regius Professor Emeritus en la Universidad de Oxford y Honorary Fellow del Oriel College, Oxford y del Trinity College, Cambridge.

Ha recibido el Premio Príncipe de Asturias en 1996 por su contribución a las ciencias sociales, y el Premio Balzan en 1999 por su contribución a la historia de España y el Imperio español en la Edad Moderna. Sus estudios se centran en el periodo del siglo XVI y XVII, los de auge y decadencia de la Monarquía Católica, y en cómo su élite dirigente gestionó tales procesos.

His studies centre on the period of the 16th century and the XVIIth, those of summit and decadence of the Catholic Monarchy, and on how his leader elite managed such processes.
